About this tool
A QR code encodes text — a URL, a Wi-Fi password, contact details, or plain text — as a grid of black and white squares that a camera can decode in an instant. Under the hood it uses Reed-Solomon error correction, which is what lets a QR code stay scannable even when part of it is scratched, poorly lit, or, as with this tool, partly covered by a logo.
This generator builds the code, applies your chosen foreground and background colors, composites an optional logo on top with a solid backing square so the modules underneath don't need to stay legible, and draws an optional caption below it — all on a single canvas, entirely on your device. Nothing you type or upload is sent to a server, and the tool keeps working with no internet connection once the page has loaded.
Error correction level controls how much of the code can be damaged or obscured before it stops scanning: Low tolerates about 7% loss, Medium about 15%, Quartile about 25%, and High about 30%. Higher levels pack in more redundancy, which makes the printed pattern denser — that's why adding a logo automatically raises the level to High, giving the covered area the best chance of still scanning cleanly.
Keep the encoded text reasonably short for a code that's easy to scan from a distance: URLs and short strings produce a clean, low-density pattern, while long blocks of text force a bigger, harder-to-read grid. If generation fails, it's almost always because the text is too long for the chosen error correction level — try trimming it or lowering the level.
Once you're happy with the preview, download it as a PNG and drop it straight into a poster, business card, or product packaging. Because everything renders locally, you can generate as many variations — different colors, logos, or captions — as you like without any rate limit.
Frequently asked questions
Does the QR code still work with a logo on top of it? expand_more
Yes, as long as the logo doesn't cover too much of the code. The tool automatically switches to the High error-correction level once a logo is set, which tolerates roughly 30% of the code being unreadable — but keep the logo modest in size and always test-scan the result.
What does the error correction level actually do? expand_more
It adds redundant data so the code can still be decoded if part of it is damaged, dirty, or covered. Low tolerates about 7% loss, Medium about 15%, Quartile about 25%, and High about 30% — at the cost of a denser, more detailed pattern.
Can I use a URL, Wi-Fi details, or plain text? expand_more
Yes. Any text works — a website URL, an email address, plain text, or any other string a QR-scanning app on the other end knows how to interpret.
What format can I download the QR code in? expand_more
As a PNG image, rendered at the size shown in the preview, including any logo and caption you've added.
Does my data leave my browser? expand_more
No. The QR code is generated and rendered entirely on your device, and the tool keeps working offline once the page has loaded.
